Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehtap PEHLİVANLAR KÜÇÜK graduated from Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine in 2009. She completed her residency training in the Department of Pulmonology at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine between 2010 and 2015. From 2015 to 2018, she received subspecialty training in intensive care medicine at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Ondokuz Mayıs University. Since 2018, she has been working as a pulmonologist and intensive care specialist at Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital.
In addition, in 2018, she briefly worked at Ahi Evren Chest, Heart and Vascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, where she further strengthened her experience in the field of pulmonology. Between 2009 and 2010, she worked as a general practitioner at Rize Çayeli İshakoğlu State Hospital, gaining experience in acute care and trauma management.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Pehlivanlar Küçük has delivered training programs focused on mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal organ support therapies. She has served as a course instructor and moderator at national and international congresses, and has authored several scientific publications on mechanical ventilation, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and COVID-19 management. Notably, she has significant experience in ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) applications during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Pehlivanlar Küçük is a member of several international medical organizations, including the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO). Her faculty is also distinguished as one of only two centers in Türkiye registered with ELSO for data contribution. In addition, she actively participates in national medical societies such as the Turkish Society of Intensive Care, the Emergency Medicine Association of Türkiye, the Lung Health and Intensive Care Society (ASYOD), and the Turkish Thoracic Society. She currently serves as the Chair of the Intensive Care Scientific Committee within ASYOD.
